Submitting Payments for NYSLRS Members

Enhanced Reporting

With each report, you must submit payment for the total amount of contributions, loans and service credit purchase payments withheld from your NYSLRS members during the report period.

Direct Debit

You must send NYSLRS member payments by direct debit. We will withdraw the funds electronically through the automated clearing house (ACH) system.

Rather than sending a check, using ACH is:

  • Fast. It eliminates unnecessary handling by mailrooms, post offices, staff, etc.
  • Easy. Your payment comes directly to us.
  • Secure. It’s the same system used by banks.
  • Convenient. It saves time, money and paperwork without sacrificing accuracy, reliability or security.

If you are not set up to pay through ACH, submit a completed Electronic Debit Authorization form with your name, bank, account number and the name of the person to be notified when the account will be debited. You can mail the form (address is on the form) or complete and scan the form and email it as an attachment to NYSLRS Employer Reporting.

It will take two to three weeks to set up your account. Once we’ve processed your authorization form, we will notify you by phone or email.

Each month, you will receive a two-day notice of the upcoming debit from your account by email.

NYSLRS can only withdraw funds from the account you designate on your authorization form. If you need to change your bank account or email address, you must submit another Electronic Debit Authorization form as soon as possible.

NYSLRS will withdraw exactly what is owed from your account. If you underreport any contributions or payments on your report, we won’t debit more than what you’ve authorized.

If you report and pay for more contributions than are owed, the contributions will be returned to you if identified within one year of the overpayment occurring. You will be credited for the amount of the overpayment and responsible for refunding the member. Please see our Federal Tax Treatment of Member Contributions page for information on tax implications.
