Purpose

To notify agencies of additional PSC dues and agency shop fees that may be taken for certain CUNY PSC employees.

Affected Employees

Employees in bargaining units CB, GA, and T8 that did not pay dues or agency shop fees in the paycheck dated September 1, 2016

Background

When the effective date of a hire is in the second week of a pay period for employees on a current pay cycle, the payroll system does not take union dues or agency shop fees because the check is confirmed before the effective date of hire. Therefore, PSC employees in the bargaining units above hired by CUNY on August 25, 2016 did not pay dues or agency shop fees.

Agency Actions

Notify affected employees.

OSC Actions

OSC will add the dues or agency shop fee amount that should have been deducted in paychecks dated September 1, 2016 to paychecks dated January 19, 2017. These amounts were provided to OSC by PSC based on reported earnings. Employees who switched from agency shop fee to dues in the time period between September 1, 2016 and January 11, 2017 may see both agency shop fee and dues taken from this paycheck.
