Purpose:
The purpose of this bulletin is to inform agencies of the 2021 rate for the New York State Paid Family Leave Program.
Affected Employees:
All employees eligible for the New York State Paid Family Leave Program are affected.
Background:
The New York State Department of Financial Services has announced that the 2021 premium rate and the maximum weekly employee contribution for coverage will be 0.511% (0.00511) of an employee’s weekly wage. The maximum employee premium deduction for Paid Family Leave will be $385.34 per year.
Effective Dates:
Effective for all 2021 paychecks, as of Administration check of January 6, 2021 and Institution check of January 14, 2021.
Eligibility Criteria:
Employees with a regular work schedule of 20 or more hours per week are eligible after 26 consecutive weeks of employment.
Employees with a regular work schedule of less than 20 hours per week are eligible after 175 days worked.
OSC Actions:
OSC will automatically increase the biweekly deduction for all eligible employees.
Agency Actions:
Agencies must notify affected employees.
